Returning to The Legend

It’s with great joy and excitement that I am sharing; I’ll be coming back to Brooks to take part in the 2019 edition of  The Legend Golf Tournament!

Events like this are incredibly important and special in so many ways. The mental health community and “movement” is growing bigger and stronger every day, because of amazing events like The Legend.  It’s so much more than a golf tournament. It’s an outward expression of a community standing up and saying, “we’ve had enough”… and I couldn’t be more honoured to be a part of this collective rallying cry in Brooks.

We’ve had enough of mental health being pushed to the side.

We’ve had enough of stigma keeping people in the shadows.

We’ve had enough of fear preventing people from speaking up.

We’ve had enough of hearing “I never knew” in the wake of a tragedy.

Ultimately, we’ve had enough of sitting on the sidelines idly watching people struggle… we are finally doing something about it.

The amazing people in Brooks inspire me to no end. Small communities creating a BIG impact is the heart of the mental health initiative in our great country. In a community where everyone seems to know everyone, a loss by suicide affects everyone. Seeing the amazing people in Brooks rallying behind the idea that things need to change is one of the most special things I’ve seen in my 5 years of travelling Canada as an advocate and spokesperson for change when it come to the stigma surrounding mental health.

I’ve travelled coast to coast, spoken to thousands, yet it was only in Brooks where I made friends, and instantly felt like part of the community. Needless to say, I can’t wait to come back, reconnect with friends, and feel like an honorary “Brooksian” once again!

See you in July!
